Capt. Ronald Graham Kennell Hardey MC

Lt. Ronald Graham Kennell Hardey, formerly of the Highland Light Infantry, served with No.6 Commando from, at least, 9th June 1941 and was made Troop Commander of No.6 Troop of No.6 Commando from the re-organisation of the Commando initiated by Lt-Col. Derek Mills-Roberts on 21st June 1943.

However, he was made Troop Captain of No.2 Troop of No.6 Commando in December 1943, following the death of Troop Capt. William Wylie in a Road Traffic Accident

On D-Day, 6th June 1944 , Capt. Hardey’s No.2 Troop neutralised seven enemy emplacements and took the surrender of a four-gun battery, for which he was awarded the Military Cross. However, Capt. Hardey was wounded in the hand outside Caen , Normandy , and evacuated back to the UK . There he convalesced before rejoining No.2 Troop as Commanding Officer again on 7th August 1944 .
